The Suunto Vertical 2 improves upon the original with a brighter, larger LTPO AMOLED screen, a redesigned optical heart rate sensor coupled with a flat-lay backpanel for a better fit, and a built-in LED flashlight that provides safety and convenience after dark; all stacked on top of the weeks-on-end battery life, advanced navigation tools, and tough design that the Vertical family is known for. From planning and training to execution, Suunto Vertical 2 is made to explore new frontiers.
Suunto Vertical 2 largely inherits the design of Suunto Vertical. The first generation received consistently positive feedback in many contexts, with a design that appears robust and durable, like a reliable instrument, which is exactly the impression Suunto aims to convey with its outdoor devices. Its straightforward form language, solid volumetric relationships, and the detailing of the bezel and buttons collectively express this character with precision.
Therefore, aside from hardware upgrades, all form-related refinements in the second generation are concentrated on the back. Similar to Suunto Race 2, Mu redesigned the charging and OHR solutions, resulting in a more unified back design and improved wearing comfort.
At the same time, this iteration addresses several ergonomic issues carried over from Suunto Vertical, such as improvements to edge treatment.
